libv4l-dev software package provides Collection of video4linux support libraries (development files), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libv4l-dev
libv4l-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libv4l-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libv4l-dev *
You will get with libv4l-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
